Players competing in the Texas Hold’em Tournament of Champions include winners from each of the eight tournaments hosted by Titan Bowl &amp; Billiards throughout the spring semester, and the top 12 non-winners based on the points accumulated throughout the qualifying tournaments.<br /><br />The campus community is invited to attend the Texas Hold’em Tournament of Champions competition.  Food and refreshments will be provided and the overall winner will be crowned Titan Bowl &amp; Billiards Spring 2009 Texas Hold‘em Champion. <br /><br />The Texas Hold‘em  tournaments are planned for recreational purposes only, based on national interest in poker as well as student feedback. The Student Recreation Center achieved the second highest rating, receiving LEED Gold certification for energy use, material selection, lighting and water conservation, and incorporating a variety of sustainable strategies including a Construction Waste Management Plan which diverted the project’s construction waste from landfills to recycling centers.<br />The “Positively Green” celebration will feature a presentation of the LEED Gold plaque; speaker Jorden Segraves, Chair of the USGBC - Orange County Chapter, speaker Jason Lorcher of Green Dinosaur (a southern California firm specializing in assisting organizations through the LEED rating process); and an information fair showcasing “green” efforts of Cal State Fullerton academic programs, student organizations and others. <br />President, CEO and Founding Chair of the USGBC, Rick Fedrizzi notes, “The Student Recreation Center at Cal State Fullerton is an important addition to the growing strength of the green building movement.”  <br />Members of the media are invited to attend the “Positively Green” celebration and take photos of this $41 million student-funded “green” facility.  The Student Recreation Center’s sustainable design efforts and pursuit of the LEED certification process represents a collaborative effort between Cal State Fullerton Design and Construction, Associated Students, CSUF, Inc., general contractor C.W. Driver, and architects from Langdon Wilson.  “We are very proud of this achievement and want to thank C.W. There is a magical quality in the alchemical transformation that occurs with the creation of glass objects,” says Jacqueline. The series will culminate with a championship tournament on Wednesday, May 13th with the winner will be crowned Titan Bowl &amp;amp; Billiards Texas Hold’em Spring Champion.<br />Sign-ups begin at 7am on the day of the tournament and participation is limited to the first 40 sign-ups.  The Texas Hold’em tournament series is planned for recreational purposes only. This competition is designed to encourage Cal State Fullerton students to get fit, lose unwanted pounds and make healthy lifestyle choices. <br />The Titan Fitness Challenge begins Monday, March 2nd, 2009 and concludes after 10 weeks of competition.  More than 100 students submitted applications to be part of this one-of-a-kind program.  The 23 students selected will individually compete to make the greatest improvements in the following six dimensions: body mass index, body composition, strength, flexibility, nutrition and 1-mile run time.  As part of the competition, contestants receive free personal training, nutritional coaching and mind/body workshops.  The campus community is encouraged to participate in the competition by logging on to tfc.fullerton.edu.  This website provides health and nutrition information as well as tracks the progress of each contestant throughout the competition.  <br />An overall winner will be declared Thursday, May 14th, 2009 and will receive an eSpinner&#174; bike from STAR TRAC, a prize valued at more than $4,800!
